Dr. John Lenihan is a Board Certified OB-GYN Physician who has extensive experience in Robotic and minimally invasive surgery. He performed and taught operative laparoscopy in the 1980;s and did his first laparoscopic hysterectomy in 1991. He performed one of the first robotic hysterectomies in the country in June 2005. He was the Medical Director of Robotics and Minimally Invasive Surgery for MultiCare Health System in Tacoma WA until he retired in January 2019. He then worked for a robotic Surgery VR Simulation training company (Mimic Technologies) in Seattle WA which was subsequently acquired by Surgical Science-Sweden in January 2021.  He has many peer reviewed publications and two book chapters on Robotic surgery. He was a Clinical Associate Professor of OB-GYN at the University of Washington School of Medicine and served 23 years in the US Air Force. Based on this, he also has a strong background in Aviation and Simulation. He is now working with industry and academic programs to develop the Nex-Gen of Proficiency based robotic surgery VR simulation curriculums.
